Implants are used when a tooth has been removed or cannot be restored with a filling, root canal, or crown. There is no root in the bone. The implant replaces that root so a new tooth can be anchored.
The implant is titanium, placed into the jaw (mandible or maxilla). It holds mechanically at placement, then fuses with bone over time — osseointegration. Abutment posts go into the implant; a fixed or removable tooth (one or more) is attached.
Related work when the site needs it: sinus lift and bone grafting. Dr. Oksana Elariny provides implant dentistry in this office.
